Inside an absorbent pad

A closer look at the materials in an absorbent pad and how they work together to help keep surfaces dry and comfortable.

Inside an absorbent pad

A soft contact surface

A non-woven top layer provides the surface that comes into contact with pets or the user. Its texture and material structure contribute to the feel of the finished product.

The absorbent core

Wood pulp helps distribute liquid within the pad. Super absorbent polymer, or SAP, helps retain it in the absorbent core. The structure and amount of each material are specifications to discuss for your intended use.

The waterproof backing

The PE backing provides a barrier between the absorbent core and the surface below. The pad’s dimensions, border construction and material combination affect the finished product.

Review a finished sample

A material illustration alone does not establish the performance of a finished pad. Agree on your requirements, review finished samples and confirm the appropriate checks before approving a product for your market.
